How We Can Help

Common concerns we can help with include:

  • Loose brackets
  • Lost tie wires or elastic bands
  • Soreness from braces
  • Pokey wires or soft tissue irritation

What To Do If Something Happens

Loose Bracket

If the bracket is still attached to the wire, leave it in place. If it feels uncomfortable, cover it with orthodontic wax. If it comes off completely, keep it and bring it to your next appointment. Never connect elastics to a loose bracket.

Lost Tie Wire Or Elastic Band

Call the office to ask if an appointment is needed and let the assistant know at your next visit.

Soreness From Braces

Rinse with warm saltwater to soothe the area. You may take the same pain reliever you would use for a headache or muscle soreness. Cold foods or drinks can also provide temporary relief.

Pokey Wire Or Irritation

Cover the end of the wire or bracket with orthodontic wax to protect the area until we can see you during business hours.
