How to Floss with Braces

At Richter Orthodontics, Greeley dentist Dr. David Richter offers a wide range of orthodontic solution for patients of all ages. Dr. Richter provides a variety of personalized solutions including Damon® Braces, Invisalign® and Insignia® for quick, efficient treatment and a functional smile.

At Richter Orthodontics, our goal is to help patients address orthodontic concerns through personalized, effective dental care. In order to keep your smile healthy, it requires effort from both patient and dentist. Patients must follow a healthy oral hygiene routine at home to keep their teeth and gums healthy and minimize the chance of developing dental issues like tooth decay, cavities, and gum disease.

Flossing and brushing your teeth twice daily can help remove harmful bacteria and debris from sticking to the teeth. Flossing can be especially difficult for patients with braces because often times patients miss certain parts of the teeth.  When patients are not correctly informed on how to floss their teeth with braces, they may not effectively floss all parts of the teeth which may lead to tooth decay and cavities. In advanced cases, incorrect flossing may lead to the development of gum disease. Our goal is to help educate patients are the proper ways to take care of their teeth with braces in hopes it promotes a practical, comfortable treatment.

In this video, we will highlight an efficient way to floss your teeth with braces. As you may notice, flossing in between the brackets is an important step when flossing with braces.
